Temas resources of Canada announced the pilot test of a new titanium dioxide process

2021-08-03

On July 28, temas resources, a Canadian ilmenite development company, announced that it would start a new pilot scale production of titanium dioxide and complete the extraction of metal oxides such as titanium dioxide, vanadium pentoxide and iron oxide from ilmenite. The new process is different from the current commercial chlorination process and sulfuric acid process, which is called ORF process.

ORF process is developed by Canadian process research ortech company, which is a mining process and green extraction technology development company, and is proficient in hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy processes. Temas is vigorously promoting the fe-Ti-V project in Quebec, and the two have reached cooperation in this regard.

It is reported that the pilot test is planned to run continuously for 90 days, all reagents will be recycled, and the output titanium dioxide will be sent for sample testing. In a published report, titanium dioxide with purity of more than 99.8% and iron oxide with purity of 98.5% can be prepared by ORF method.
